On the Stage with the World’s Best in New York City

“What does winning this award mean for your family of producers in Italy?” The question posed to us by the prestigious NYIOOC (New York International Olive Oil Competition) upon winning a silver award for our Carolea extra virgin olive oil made us pause to reflect.

What does it mean for our family in Italy? “It leaves us without words to be recognized internationally at a world competition held in New York, in the United States,” they commented with a smile. I can still see their faces when they heard the news; a mix of awe and happiness. The mix of emotions cascaded around them; their humility and being dubbed one of the world’s top producers and their pride in their product, that their family olive oil was recognized as one of the world’s best.

Producing a top olive oil isn’t easy, and this year held unique challenges around labor shortages and poor weather. Despite the hardships on top of the painstakingly hard work that olive oil production inherently is, Fratelli Pugliano successfully produced an award-winning Calabrian extra virgin olive oil.

It’s not a simple feat to be listed on the Best Olive Oils website! In fact, we both can and can’t believe it ourselves. We knew our product was incredible and top-quality, but it’s a whole other thing to be listed among the world’s best olive oils.
